Tour Details

During this 3 days we will attempt on the Toukbal summit, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Your route takes you up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. Azzadene Valley. Along the way you will pass Tizi N’Mzik.. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts. The views along the way make the journey more than worthwhile. When you reach the summit you will see that the vistas across the surrounding landscape are quite breathtaking.

Concerning  Atlas mountains Trekking you need to prepare as you would for walking in any mountain region; it can be warm and sunny during the day but the weather in the mountains can quickly change from sunshine to snow and cold winds (autumn through late spring).

Itinerary

Day 1Marrakech - Imlil 6 hours trek to Azzadene Valley

Pick up from the hotel in Marrakech. After your transfer from Marrakech to Imlil (1,780m), you will set off an a 6 hour trek out of the Imlil Valley and into the Azzadene Valley. Along the way you will pass Tizi N’Mzik at 2450m and the Ighouliden waterfalls. Overnight in Azib Tamsoult refuge or in a tent. About 5 hours walking.

Day 2Azzadene Valley to the Toubkal Refuge passing by Aguelzim Mountain

Today we will climb out of the Azzadene Valley to the Toubkal Refuge passing by Aguelzim Mountain pass at 3560m. Lunch will be taken with spectacular views over the Atlas Mountain Range. Overnight in a tent nearby the Toubkal Refuge . About 7 hours walking.

Day 3Refuge - Toukbal summit - back to Imlil. Then Transfer back to Marrakech

Early in the morning you make your attempt on the Toukbal summit, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Your route takes you up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts. The views along the way make the journey more than worthwhile. When you reach the summit you will see that the vistas across the surrounding landscape are quite breathtaking. From here there are unrestricted views in every direction, from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara. You will retrace your steps when you return down the mountain and head back towards Imlil. Then Transfer back to Marrakech. About 9 to 10 hours walking.
